## we…us ##
|
|
|
|
In verses 8-10 the pronouns "we" and "us" refer to all believers. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-inclusive]])

|
|
## have no sin ##
|
|
|
|
"never sin" or "have never sinned" (UDB)
|
|
|
|
## deceive ##
|
|
|
|
"trick" or "fool"
|
|
|
|
## the truth is not in us ##

"we do not believe what he said is true"
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
These words refer to God.
|

## faithful and righteous ##
|
|
|

"loyal and good"
|

## to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness ##

## we make him a liar ##
|
|
|
|
"it is the same as calling him a liar, because he said we have all sinned." The phrase "because he said we have all sinned" is implicit. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit]])

|
|
|
This can be translated "we do not understand or obey what he says." |
