# Then I sent word to him
Here "I" refers to Nehemiah and "him" to Sanballat.

Here "they" refers to Nehemiah's enemies, Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem, and their followers. The word "us" refers to the Jews.

# strengthen my hands
