1.2 KiB

When Jesus was alone

This does not mean that Jesus was completely alone; rather, that the crowds were gone and Jesus was only with the twelve and some of his other close followers.

To you is given

This can be stated in active form. "God has given you" or "I have given you" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-activepassive)

to those outside

"but to those who are not among you." This refers to all the other people who were not among the twelve or Jesus' other close followers.

everything is in parables

It can be stated that Jesus gives the parables to the people. AT: "I have spoken everything in parables" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-ellipsis)

when they look ... when they hear

It is assumed that Jesus is speaking about the people looking at what he shows them and hearing what he tells them. AT: "when they look at what I am doing ... when they hear what I am saying" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit)

they look, but do not see

Jesus speaks of people understanding what they see as actually seeing. AT: "they look and do not understand" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-metaphor)

turn

This refers to turning away from sin.
