The words “conquer” and “overcome” are used to talk about winning or having victory against an enemy. They are also used to talk about being successful against a difficult thing or situation.
#### More Information About This Topic
Jesus said that he conquered the world (see: John 16:33). Jesus said this to talk about how he will defeat all evil things. Jesus said this to comfort his followers. That is, so his followers will know they too will be able to conquer evil things.
The Apostle Paul wrote to Christians that they are more than conquerors through Jesus who loves them (see: Romans 8:37). The Apostle John also wrote to Christians that they have overcome the evil one (see: 1 John 2:13, 14; 4:4; 5:4, 5).
The word “conquer” is used many times in the book of Revelation. Jesus promised many wonderful things to those who conquer the trials and tribulations that they will experience (see: Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21; 21:7).
