Intercede (Intercession)
The words "intercede" and "intercession" are used to talk about making a request to someone for another person. A person intercedes for other people by asking someone with authority to help or to be kind to them. In the Bible, this usually is used to talk about praying for other people (see: 1 Timothy 2:1; James 5:16). When someone "makes intercession for" or "intercedes for" someone else, he is asking God to do good things for that person.
The Bible teaches that Jesus and the Holy Spirit intercede for Christians (see: Romans 8:26-27, 34; Hebrews 7:25). That is, Jesus and the Holy Spirit pray to God the Father, asking him to help Christians.
