# Blameless
A person who is “blameless” or “without blame” behaves in a way that honors God. The person completely trusts and serves God. People respect a blameless person. The blameless person does not do anything that brings shame on God. The words “above reproach” are another way of writing about someone who is blameless.

Blameless does not mean that the person never sins. Jesus is the only person to live without sinning (see: 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22).

Noah and Job were called blameless (see: Genesis 6:9; Job 1:1). For a person to become a deacon, an elder, or an overseer in the church that person must be blameless (see: 1 Timothy 3:8-10; Titus 1:6-7).
