God commanded the Israelites to be kind to people who came to their land from different places (see: Leviticus 19:33-34). God also commanded Christians to be hospitable (see: Romans 12:13; 1 Timothy 3:2; Hebrews 13:2; 1 Peter 4:9; 3 John 1:7-8). Christians who traveled to tell people about Jesus often needed the hospitality of others (see: Matthews 10:9-14; Acts 28:7).
