# Old and New Self
In Ephesians 4:22-24 and Colossians 3:10-17, the apostle Paul wrote that Christians no longer do things in the same way they did them before they knew Jesus. Paul wrote this is similar to a person taking off old clothes and putting on new clothes. This was a metaphor used to talk about peoples old ways of not honoring God and their new ways of honoring God.
Paul said this because he wanted people to do the things that honor God. This is so other people who are not Christians will know that the Christians believe in Jesus and honor him. People do this when they stop doing the bad things they did before they believed in Jesus. Instead, they obey Jesus and live in a new way that honors God.
