## Blastus ##

Blastus was an assistant or chamberlain to King Herod. He is mentioned by name only once, here. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/translate-names]])

## they asked for peace ##

"these men requested peace"

## On a set day ##

"On the day planned" for the meeting

## he made a speech to them ##

"Herod made a speech to the men" or "Herod spoke to the men"

## sat on a throne ##

This was where Herod formally addressed people who came to see him. "Herod sat on his throne" (UDB).
