Daniel's understanding of the meaning of the vision is what alarmed him. This can be explicitly stated. AT: "did not say anything for some time because he was very worried about the meaning of the dream" (See: rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-explicit)

may the dream be for those who hate you; may its interpretation be for your enemies

Daniel is expressing his wish that the dream was not about Nebuchadnezzar, even though he knew that it really was about the king.
