As freq. in Hom., absol., <b>he (she, it), his</b> (etc.): <ref='Act.17.28'>Act.17:28</ref> (quoted from the poet Aratus).<BR /> __2. Distributive, ὁ μὲν . . . ὁ δέ, <b>the one . . . the other</b>: <ref='1Co.7.7'>1Co.7:7</ref>, <ref='Gal.4.22'>Gal.4:22</ref>; pl., <ref='Act.14.4; 17.32'>Act.14:4, 17:32</ref>, <ref='Php.1.16'>Php.1:16</ref>, al.; οἱ μὲν . . . ἄλλοι δέ, <ref='Mat.16.14'>Mat.16:14</ref>, <ref='Jhn.7.12'>Jhn.7:12</ref>; οἱ μεν̀ . . . ὁδέ, <ref='Heb.7.21, 23'>Heb.7:21, 23</ref>.<BR /> __3.
